Keith's Story
Keith has recently been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. Even though it is in stage one, it is one of the hardest cancers to treat. Keith will have to undergo a difficult six-hour operation. During the surgery his esophagus will be removed and his stomach pulled up to replace it. He will even have to learn to swallow again. The recovery period is long and painful. After that the chemotherapy will start.
This is not the first challenge that Keith has faced. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in his twenties. He underwent a bone marrow transplant at Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, Washington and then went through years of painful graft-versus-host disease. When he was in Seattle he met his first wife Julie who also had Leukemia. They were married only six months before she died.
Later he married Lori and to everyone's delight, they have been blessed with two children: Kip and Bodie. Kip is now four and Bodie is two. Lori is a stay-at-home Mom. In the next few months, with two young boys at home and Keith going through a long recovery period, her time will be filled with caregiving. It would be impossible for her to return to work at the present time. Recovery can take many months.
Everyone would like to take away what this family is going to have to go through. We can't remove the cancer, the pain and all the worry. But we can help by removing one of their worries: how they're going to cover co-pays and living expenses while this is going on. That is the purpose of this web site.

The Treatment has Begun
Keith has begun his treatments. This is a long and arduous process that will take every ounce of strength Keith and Lori can devote to it. We really appreciate your donations. Every dollar given will enable them to dedicate their energies to beating this disease. Thank you so much for donating.
